Tuesday Tiny Writing Tip #16 – Censure and Beliefs

Tuesday Tiny Writing Tip #16 by Dilyana Kyoseva (CatMint5 on wattpad) - Censure and Beliefs

You have to accept that at some point you will (unwillingly) insult someone, be it with a joke about fat people, a religious/political view your character expresses (even if you don’t agree with them) or even a simple blonde joke. You can’t walk on eggshells, because someone at some point might take offense though; it will put a lot of stress on you and damage your work. I’m not saying “Don’t be politically correct” or “Shame other religions” or “Make fun of other races”; I’m just pointing out that your characters have beliefs that they should stand by (check TTWT 15 for more on that) and you shouldn’t censure them out of fear. If you are that worried, put a disclaimer in your book, saying you don’t approve everything your characters say and do.
