We’ve talked about your writing environment before and getting rid of distractions. But while it’s important to remove whatever could interfere with your writing process, it’s also important to remember to bring things that would aid it.
Bring a water bottle or a mug of tea or coffee; bring some light snacks that won’t make you drowsy because you ate too much; bring a paper napkin or a wet wipe to clean your hands after you’ve munched the food (you don’t want sticky fingertips on your laptop pad or tablet screen, do you?); bring a playlist that helps you get in the mood for a particular scene/writing in general or rest during your breaks; if you are editing a paper copy, bring colored markers and pens…
Just make a list with things that help you create and make sure you have them when you sit down to write or edit.
