Q1. Hello, Vivyan, and welcome to my blog! Tell us a little bit about yourself. How and when did you start writing?
Hello! Thank you for having me! I’m a software engineer and author. I write in many genres, and often include LGBT+ characters. I’ve been writing since I was a kid, but only in high school did I start focusing on it. I started with flash fiction and made my way into novels.
Q2. Who are your favorite authors and do you think they’ve influenced your work?
I love Jane Austen. She is a great role model to me in the way she lived and in her great skills in observing people and translating that into her characters that are still so relevant today.
Q3. Your book Love Hurt Repeat is coming out today; why don’t you share the blurb with us?
After a long courtship in spring, Damian Wylde is in a committed relationship with Kell Roberts. When Kell’s away at an internship for the summer, Damian struggles to manage daily life without him. Especially when Kell’s caught kissing someone else. Damian doesn’t know if their relationship will survive when Kell gets back for the new school year.
Q4. What inspire the story?
I was inspired by music that I had been listening to for the whole series. I was listening to some songs that were all about love and the next song would be saying why the love was over. This idea of high passion leading to such strong emotions is what inspired me to write the series about this couple that goes through so much love and hate and repeat.
Q5. What about the characters? Who is your favorite and are any of them inspired by real people?
Though none of my characters are inspired by real people, I would say that I feel very strongly for Damian. Kell puts him through a lot, but he still tries to be strong. He has his own weaknesses and problems outside of Kell, that I hope readers will recognize and forgive him for it.
Q6. Where can people who are interested in your book buy it?
There’s also a giveaway (ends on August 3rd at 11:59 PM) in which you can win a copy.
Q7. What are you working on right now and what can we expect from you in the future?
I am working on the 3rd book in the series. I hope to have it out this coming winter. I have a few other projects I’m working on; mostly more college romances, but they’re not being released quite yet.
Q8. Who is your biggest supporter and what would you like to say to them?
I have a few I’d consider the biggest and they’re all in different ways. My family’s help in the entire story process is so invaluable, more than I could ever describe. My friend is my number one fan and if they hadn’t been there to talk about this storyline for the series when I came up with it two years ago, I don’t think I’d be publishing the sequel now! And to my online friend, they have helped me so much in finding resources, support, and who I want to be. I couldn’t do it without any of these three people!
Q9. If you could give other authors one piece of advice, be it about writing, editing, promoting or increasing their audience, what would it be?
Keep writing, turn off your inner critic. And no one will believe in your work as much as you do, so be your own champion.
Q10. Thank you for giving me this interview, Vivyan! Before we part, tell us: where can we connect with you online?
