Writing Wednesdays: Where Authors Can Submit Their ARCs for Review (And Where Readers Can Find Them)

Writing Wednesdays - Where Authors Can Submit Their ARCs for Review (And Where Readers Can Find Them)

Even though this post is a Writing Wednesdays post, it’s both for writers and readers. There are online sites that offer to distribute ARCs (free Advance Reader Copies of a book) or give a book sale a shout-out, and today I’m going to list some of them. Writers, you can submit your ARCs or discounted books on these sites to reach new readers; readers, you can get free and discounted copies of books on these sites.

Let’s do this!

SITES DEDICATED TO ARC DISTRIBUTION & DISCOUNTED BOOKS:

  • NetGalley
    • A site to for authors to distribute ARCs. Caveat for readers? You have to leave a review on NetGalley, as well as where you usually post (blog, Goodreads, Amazon, B&N, etc.).
  • InstaFreebie
    • For authors: You can use this site to distribute your ARCs and get new email subscribers.
    • For readers: Sign up, pick the genres you like and InstaFreebie will send you offers for books in them. Since this site is often used to distribute ARCs, you might have to agree to leave a review in exchange for a free copy. Some authors would also require you to sign up to their email list.
    • They have an app.
  • Reading Deals
    • For authors: Will promote your free or discounted books.
    • For readers: You can find free and discounted books. You don’t even have to leave a review in exchange for the free ones (although all authors appreciate positive reviews as they attract new customers and help authors put food on the table; if you like a book, please write a review, even if it’s just a few sentences). You can pick which genres you want them to email you about.
  • The Fussy Librarian
    • For authors: Will promote your free and discounted books.
    • For readers: Sign up, pick the genres you like and get an email newsletter with book promotions. You don’t need to leave a review in exchange for the free books.
  • Book Funnel
    • This one is only for authors to distribute ARCs.
    • An app is available.

OTHER PLACES TO FIND ARCs/TO OFFER ARCs & DISCOUNTED BOOKS:

  • Facebook groups, dedicated to giving out ARCs and promoting discounted books;
  • The Facebook group of a particular author is another place you might find ARCs;
  • Some authors use their email lists to offer ARCs;
  • On my site. You can also submit your ARC to me by filling out this form. Submissions for August and early and mid September 2018 are closed.

Next week, I’ll list some sites that offer promotional services for authors. They also distribute ARCs.

Do you know any other such sites? Share them in the comments!
