Your novel is irresistible. Your blurb can be too!
What I think of the book:
I’ve read a lot of advice books in which people tell you “Do this and this”, but they don’t show you how to. Irresistible Blurbs has useful (and easy to understand) examples, chosen from works by other authors, so no, it’s not one of those books you pick up for the tips and put down before you reach the end because the author is basically screaming “Look at me! I’m so great!” on every single page.
In Irresistible Blurbs, Siri talks a lot about voice and I happen to enjoy hers. It’s like a chat over coffee if your conversation partner came prepared with handy notes. The book is short, focused, and doesn’t waste time explaining unnecessary things, yet somehow it still manages to cover more than I expected it to.
In short: I want to steal those notes Siri brought with her to the café, but I don’t need to because I have this book.
Who would I recommend this book to? Irresistible Blurbs is perfect for newbie romance authors or for people who already have published books, but feel they’ve lost the magic touch when it comes to the blurb.
My rating: (5/5 quills)
Would I re-read this book? If I ever finish a novel I’d like to publish, I’d come back to this book when I’m working on the blurb.
Am I interested in other books by this author? If Siri writes more non-fiction, then yes; when it comes to her fiction: why not? As I said, I enjoyed her author voice.
