Blurb:

Private Investigator Harrison Fisher’s new case isn’t going the way he’d hoped. Wearing a collar, pretending he’s submissive, searching for a Dom who can get him into Hell’s Bedroom, the elite BDSM club where a seventeen-year-old boy has gone missing—his first time working undercover is really stretching his boundaries. He’s always wondered if BDSM might be for him, but this wasn’t how he intended to find out. And how can he be honest about what he wants sexually when he can’t be honest about anything else?

When Cash meets the handsome man brimming with nervous energy, he feels like he’s struck gold. Cash isn’t the most dominant of tops, but he’s got a wide repertoire of skills, and he’d be happy to practice every single one of them on Harry, the sub who’s so new to the scene he doesn’t even know his own kinks. But the closer he gets to Harry, the more obvious it becomes that Harry isn’t who he claims to be.

As Harrison flirts with both BDSM and Cash, one missing person turns into two. Someone at Hell’s Bedroom is abducting vulnerable subs, and it’s going to take more than just Harrison to bring them home. It’s going to take a whole kinky village.

What I think of the book:

Kitchen Sink Dom is the first book in Tanya Chris’ Hell’s Bedroom series – a trilogy about kinky LGBT characters finding love and also – hopefully! – solving crime.

Okay, I might have exaggerated a bit. While there is a criminal subplot in all of the books, the stress falls on the romance and the developing feelings between each of the couples, a new pair forming in each book. So far only Book 1 has come out, but Tanya graced me with a brief Q&A this week, so I got to know a bit about the sequels too; if Kitchen Sink Dom is anything to go by… Oh, boy, we’re in for a ride!

The first novel is a smooth read. When I got the ARC, I was just going to check out the first couple of pages and ended up reading the first three chapters. The main characters grabbed me from the start, and I was invested in how their relationship would progress. The chemistry is there from the beginning, but they take their time, which, given the circumstances, feels natural. In the end, both Harrison and Cash seem to have grown as people.

Now, if you’re like me, you’d be a bit wary of picking up a book with a BDSM tag. I’ve started one too many that let me know the author knew nothing about the community or its practices before I’d reached the end of the first chapter.

Thankfully, Kitchen Sink Dom is not one of those books.

It’s obvious Tanya has done research. There is plenty of terminology, but if you’re not a part of the BDSM scene or even accustomed to having BDSM elements in your reads, don’t worry: Harrison is unfamiliar with the lingo as well and has the other characters explain it to him so you won’t feel lost.

Who would I recommend this book to? I’d recommend Kitchen Sink Dom to kinky readers, regardless if they indulge in real life or just enjoy a spicy read.

My rating: 5/5 pairs of handcuffs

Would I re-read this book? Yes.

Am I interested in other books by this author? Yes, I’m interested in the rest of the series.
